Overview
These instructions will guide you through setting up your bilibot on a wifi network.
Materials
If you don't have the original USB drive shipped with your Bilibot you will need a USB stick big enough to hold the Bilibot's Ubuntu USB image (4+ GB).
Network Setup
- Plug a turned-on Bilibot into a DHCP-enabled wired Ethernet connection.
- Insert the USB stick with the Bilibot image into your laptop or desktop from which you would like to control the Bilibot .
- Ensure that your PC or laptop that you're running has "boot from USB" enabled. This varies from manufacturer to manufacturer but can usually be set in the BIOS setup utility (hitting ESC, F1 or F2 repeatedly on boot usually gets you there)
When Ubuntu has finished booting, click "Remote Desktop Viewer" under the Appications->Internet
- The "Remote Desktop Viewer" client should detect the Bilibot on the network
- Double click on the Bilibot detected on the network
- Inside the Remote Viewer window click on the wireless icon in the upper right-hand corner
- Choose the desired wireless network that you would like the Bilibot to connect to
- Upon success you may experience the Remote Desktop app become unresponsive (It has switched to using Wifi)
- Disconnect from and close the "Remote Desktop Viewer" application
- Disconnect the Bilibot from Ethernet (unless you wish to run tethered for some reason)
- Open the ROS Master Selector application on the desktop to choose which Bilibot to connect to (should be listed by computer name and IP address)
After restarting any open command terminals you can now launch applications on the Bilibot from your PC following the usual instructions. See bilibot_bringup to get started.
