boost is a C++ library that is widely used in the ROS codebase.
Version
Boost 1.35 introduced some non-backwards-compatible API changes to Boost Thread library, which is widely used in the ROS codebase. Rather than attempt to maintain compatibility across this transition, we have chosen Boost 1.37 as our version target. Boost 1.37 will be available in Ubuntu's Jaunty distribution and the hope is to transition it to a package-manager installation as it becomes more widely available.
